MSNBC blogger accuses Hillary Clinton of 'incredible cruelty' because of what she said about a ceasefire

An MSNBC blogger torched Hillary Clinton this week for acknowledging the truth about what a ceasefire means for Israel.

As progressive Democrats demand Israel stop fighting Hamas, Clinton is arguing against a ceasefire. According to the former secretary of state, a ceasefire would only reward Hamas.

"People who are calling for a ceasefire now do not understand Hamas; that is not possible," she said recently. "It would be such a gift to Hamas because they would spend whatever time there was a ceasefire in effect rebuilding their armaments, creating stronger positions to be able to fend off an eventual assault by the Israelis."

The refreshingly honest perspective went too far for Ja'han Jones, writer of MSNBC's "The ReidOut Blog," who seethed that Clinton's argument shows "incredibly cruelty."

"I can think of hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza Strip who aren’t members of Hamas and would surely welcome a ceasefire," Jones responded. "[W]ith all due respect, Clinton doesn't appear to understand people. Or the resentment they can foster."

According to Jones, the remarks are evidence of Clinton's "poor ability to anticipate emotional reactions," which he described as one of her key political liabilities.

"When U.S. elites are co-headlining events with infamous Vietnam War architect Henry Kissinger and telling us why bombing must continue in the Middle East, it seems like a sign they’re getting too comfortable with wartime casualties," he wrote. "Like a boomerang, sending cruelty out into the world can come right back."

In her political retirement, Clinton is normally the object of progressive adoration. But her position on Israel's war with Hamas is fracturing that support.

Not only does Clinton have angry bloggers to worry about (OK, maybe not), but roughly 30 students (out of approximately 300) protested her lecture at Columbia University on Wednesday.

Those students, according to the New York Times, had signed a statement blaming the war on "the Israeli extremist government." OK, so maybe she isn't worrying about them, either.
