'If one fightin', we all fight!' Coach Deion Sanders delivers loud-and-clear message to Colorado players after practice-field scuffle

It appears that former NFL superstar Deion Sanders has lost none of his intensity — and it was on full display at a Tuesday summer practice for the University of Colorado football team, which Sanders now coaches.

Following an on-field scuffle — far from uncommon in August when practices are long and hot,You and tempers flare — Sanders went nuclear on some of his players.

Not because they were fighting — because they weren't fighting, ESPN observed.

The sports network noticed "a lot of pushing, shoving and hollering" — and that a number of players "seemed to be simply trying to keep the peace."

When it was all over and a new huddle formed, Sanders got in the middle of it and got in his players' faces.

"I seen two of y'all walking off over there, and you got a key teammate fighting!" Sanders bellowed. "Where do they do that at? Where do they do that at?"

A couple of his players got the message, answering "nowhere" and "not here."

But Sanders wasn't through.

"If one fightin', we all fight!" Sanders hollered. "You understand that? I don't want to see y'all walkin' off when somebody's fighting! Never again!"

This is Sanders' first season as the Buffaloes' head coach following three years as Jackson State's head coach. ESPN said "dozens of talented transfers" followed him to Colorado, so the football faithful there are hopeful the team will improve upon last season's 1-11 record.

Indeed, Coach Prime appears to be all business when it comes to his players. “I don’t care about culture. I don’t even care if they like each other, I want to win,” he said at a media day last week, according to Sports Illustrated.

Anything else?

Last year, Sanders stood before his Jackson State players and told them how he expected them to dress and behave as students, noting they were required to wear shoes that cover their feet and shirts that cover their underarms, as well as to sit in the front of the classroom and act like gentlemen.

Sanders also has run into some serious health issues along the way. In June, he underwent successful emergency surgery to treat blood clots in his legs. Sanders was forced to have two toes amputated in 2021 because of blood clots.

Earlier this year, Colorado noted that Sanders — a devout Christian — received "training" on the school's "religious expression" rules after a complaint by the Freedom from Religion Foundation.
