LA coroner reveals disturbing details of pregnant model found dead in luxury apartment: 'Violent physical altercation'

Disturbing details have been released by the Los Angeles County coroner regarding the grisly death of a pregnant model inside her apartment in California.

Maleesa Marie Mooney, 31, was found dead in her luxury apartment in Los Angeles on Sept. 12 after her family requested a welfare check.

She hadn't been seen on the building's surveillance video since the afternoon of Sept. 6, according to police. The next day, a man was seen on surveillance video using Mooney's key fob to go up the elevator to her apartment, and he was seen carrying plastic bags, according to the police report.

Last month, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office listed her cause of death as "homicidal violence."

Shocking details regarding the model's sudden death were released by the Los Angeles County coroner on Friday.

Officers reportedly used a key from the building manager to enter Mooney's apartment.

The Los Angeles County coroner's report revealed that the young model's body was found stuffed inside her refrigerator. Mooney had her wrists and ankles tied and her mouth was gagged, according to the new coroner's report.

KABC-TV reported, "Blood was pooling under the refrigerator and her body was found inside, bound with electric cords and clothing. A gag made from clothing was stuffed in her mouth and other items were covering her head."

The coroner's office said Mooney suffered blunt force injuries, lacerations, abrasions, and contusions. She also had a fractured rib.

The report notes that the blunt force injuries were likely not severe enough to cause her death, but hint that "she was likely involved in violent physical altercation prior to her death." Investigators believe that she may have been asphyxiated, although there are no direct marks from strangulation.

A toxicology report indicated the presence of cocaine in Mooney's system.

As Blaze News previously reported, Mooney's sister said that the slain woman was two months pregnant when she was seemingly murdered.

"She was super excited and I know she really wanted a kid, and it's something that she has always talked about," said Mooney’s sister – Jourdin Pauline.

Mooney had just moved into the downtown apartment one month earlier.
