Professor appears to threaten 'zionist journalists' and their 'kids' in social media post — and calls for the prof's firing ensue

An assistant professor at the University of California, Davis appeared to threaten "zionist journalists" and their "kids" on social media recently, which has resulted in calls for the professor's firing.

What are the details?

Mediaite reported that Jemma Decristo — who teaches American studies at the college — posted on X last week that "one group of [people] we have easy access to in the U.S. is all these zionist journalists who spread propaganda & misinformation. They have houses [with] addresses, kids in school. They can fear their bosses, but they should fear us more.”

Decristo — whose X posts are now protected and whose bio reads "black anarchist" and "dyke tings" — added five emojis in the Oct. 10 post: one for a knife, one for an ax, and three blood droplets.

Mediaite added that Decristo's UC Davis profile appears to have been scrubbed. The outlet noted that Decristo's bio had read, “I am an Assistant Professor in American Studies. I focus on the interplay between sound, race, gender, and embodiment.”

Neither Decristo nor UC Davis have responded to requests for comment, Mediaite noted.

In another X post, Decristo lauded a fire set at the Israeli embassy in Jordan, exclaiming, “HELL YEAH” with three Palestinian flag emojis, the outlet said.

Mediaite said a number of X users tweeted at UC Davis’ official account and demanded that the school fire Decristo.

“Jemma Decristo, a professor at your college, is perpetuating microaggressions against a marginalized group which includes suggested violence against children as a retaliatory measure,” one user wrote Wednesday, the outlet said. “Your Jewish students cannot feel safe. I ask you to dismiss Decristo with cause and w/o pay.”

• Mika Tosca — an associate professor with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago — on Wednesday apologized for an Instagram story post from the day before in which the prof called Israelis "pigs," "savages," "very, very bad people," and even "irredeemable excrement." Tosca also added, "[M]ay they all rot in hell."

• A Stanford University teacher has been suspended allegedly for separating Jewish students from the rest of the class, calling them colonizers, and downplaying the Holocaust.
