Woman testifies that R. Kelly had sex with her 'hundreds' of times before she turned 18 during singer's child pornography trial

During the trial for R. Kelly on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges, a woman claimed that the R&B singer had sex with her "hundreds" of times before she turned 18 years old. The alleged abuse started when the victim was just 15 years old.

Jane — the pseudonym for the now 37-year-old woman – claimed that she met Kelly in the 1990s when she was 13 years old, and asked him to be her godfather. She said within weeks, Kelly would call her and make sexual remarks.

The woman testified that Kelly – who was in his 30s at the time of the alleged abuse – first touched her breasts and other body parts at a Chicago recording studio when she was about 14. She asserted that around the same time, he "started penetration" at his home in North Side Chicago.

Jane said on Thursday that she was 15 when they first had sexual intercourse.

The prosecutor asked Jane how she would know what to do sexually, she answered, "He would tell me what to do."

Jane was asked how many times they had sex before she turned 18, and replied, "Uncountable times. … Hundreds."

Kelly is standing trial in Chicago for federal charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice, producing child pornography, and enticement of minors.

The obstruction charge stems from allegations that Kelly intimidated and paid off Jane not to testify at his 2008 trial. She did not testify against Kelly in that trial.

Jane previously told a grand jury that she was not in a purported video of her and Kelly having underage sex in a log cabin-themed room in the singer's home between 1998 and 2000.

Jane now says that she is the female in the video. When asked why she lied about the video, Jane said, "I was afraid something bad would happen to Robert. I was protecting him."

In the explicit video, Kelly can be seen giving money to the girl.

Jane explained, "If anyone saw the tape ... he wanted it to appear as if I was a prostitute."

"According to prosecutors, Kelly told the parents and Jane to leave Chicago, paying for them to travel to the Bahamas and Cancun, Mexico," the Associated Press reported. "When they returned, prosecutors say Kelly sought to isolate Jane, moving her around to different hotels. When called before a state grand jury looking into the video, Jane, her father and mother denied it was her in it."

The alleged victim claimed that her parents confronted the Grammy award-winning singer about the inappropriate relationship in the early 2000s. Kelly reportedly dropped to his knees and begged the parents to forgive him. She pleaded with her parents not to get Kelly in trouble.

Around the same time, the aunt of the alleged victim showed the explicit video to Jane's parents. The parents confronted Kelly again, and this time Kelly purportedly told them, "You’re with me or against me."

The parents believed that to be a threat.

Kelly, 55, is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking.

During his sentencing in June, Judge Ann M. Donnelly declared, "These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years. You taught them that love is enslavement and violence.”

Kelly has denied all wrongdoing.
