Rapper Cardi B to pay for funerals of those who perished in deadly Bronx apartment building fire

Rapper Cardi B will pay for the funerals of all those who died in the deadly Bronx apartment building fire, according to reports.

At least 17 people died as a result of the apartment building fire, which took place earlier this month.

Eight of the victims, according to reports, were children.

What are the details?

The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, is set to cover the funeral costs of all 17 people who were killed in the five-alarm fire.

Almánzar, who was born and raised in the Bronx, said that she felt compelled to stand up and do something for her community and has also pledged to cover the repatriation expenses for some victims who will be buried in their West African home of Gambia.

"I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing," she said in a statement on the disaster, "but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal."

A man who lost five of his relatives in the deadly fire said that the rapper is an "angel" for her contribution.

Sixty-one year-old Haji Dukuray, who lost his 37-year-old niece Haja Dukureh, her husband Haji Dukary, 49, and their three children — 12-year-old Mustapha Dukureh, 11-year-old Mariam Dukureh, and five-year-oldFatoumata Dukureh — told TMZ that he couldn't thank the rapper enough.

"Cardi B, you are an angel," he said. "I can't thank you enough. My family can't thank you enough for what you have done. I don't know you. I am sure you've never heard of my family. For you to step up and do what you did for us at this time, all I could do is pray to Allah for you. May Allah give you all your wishes and grant you everything in this world."

He added, "I can't even imagine. I have five family members that I am planning to bury, and the financial aspect — we all know how expensive that can be, and for me not to worry about the cost at all was just a huge, huge help and a huge relief for my family."

In a statement thanking the hip hop superstar, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said that New Yorkers "never turn their back on one another."

“The resilience of this city reflects everyday New Yorkers who never turn their back on one another,” Adams said of Almanzar's meaningful contribution. “We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims.”
