'Shoot them': Chipotle customers reportedly lose it over order, demand more cheese, then one pulls a gun and they trash the place

A pair of Chipotle customers reportedly lost it over an order late last month, demanding more cheese — and then a fight broke out between them and employees, one of the suspects pulled a gun, and the pair trashed the Columbus, Ohio, store before taking off.

What are the details?

Columbus police responded to reports of a robbery on the 400 block of South High Street, near East Livingston Avenue, last Tuesday, WCMH-TV reported.

The station said two customers reportedly became enraged over an order in which they demanded more cheese, the station said.

The suspects cornered one employee and ripped off her hat, WCMH said, after which they fought other employees who came to the first employee’s aid.

What's more, one of the suspects pulled out a gun while the other suspect repeatedly said, “Shoot them," the station reported.

Witnesses said the gun misfired, according to Crime Stoppers.

Then the pair damaged the restaurant by throwing chairs and trash cans, WCMH reported, adding that on their way out of the Brewery District restaurant, one of the suspects snatched a cell phone from an individual.

After all of that, the station said the suspects left the scene without receiving extra cheese.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for this crime, WCMH said.

Anyone with information about this crime can call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or head to www.stopcrime.org and email a tip.

How are folks reacting?

As you might expect, those who viewed the Crime Stoppers video of the incident aren't very happy with the customers' behavior:

  • "Imagine getting felonies and spending time in jail over a Chipotle order," one commenter said.
  • "I hope they're caught and spend a considerable amount of time in prison........with NO cheese!" another commenter declared.
  • "I have to admit that it's funny. At the same time they tried to murder someone who only lives cause the gun didn't work. They would have murdered him over maybe a few dozen dollars," another commenter observed. "What a bitter time."
