Veteran actress Patricia Clarkson doesn't seem to regret never marrying or having children: 'I've had a sexy-a** life'

Veteran actress Patricia Clarkson during a podcast earlier this week didn't seem to express regrets about never marrying or having children. Instead, Jezebel said Clarkson revealed that "I've had a sexy-ass life."

What are the details?

Clarkson on Tuesday appeared on Bruce Bozzi’s "Table for Two" podcast and discussed what's been at the root of a “single, straight Southern woman who never married and never had children," the outlet noted.

The 63-year-old — who's starred over the years opposite the likes of Tom Hanks ("The Green Mile"), Kevin Costner ("The Untouchables"), Kurt Russell ("Miracle"), and Clint Eastwood ("The Dead Pool") — said she "loves" being an aunt, Jezebel reported.

"I love it more than, probably more than acting, which is odd. They’re on par. But I’m telling you, these are gorgeous children, but that doesn’t have to define every woman,” Clarkson said, according to the outlet.

She also said she “made a big choice” in her younger years not to get married or produce offspring, Jezebel said.

Clarkson noted that she “had a window to have a child" when she was 38 and thought about marrying and starting a family with a man she was dating at the time — but went the "no" route, the outlet noted.

“[At] the end of the day, I loved working, and I grew up with great parents who sacrificed everything for me,” Clarkson said during the podcast, according to Jezebel. “And you have to really be committed to having children. You have to be a great parent, and I was afraid I couldn’t be.”

She added that “I’m fine failing as an actor. I didn’t want to fail at being a parent," the outlet said.

Clarkson also recalled something her mother told her years ago that amuses her now, Jezebel added: “My mother said, ‘Patty, I just don’t want you to wake up at 50 and be unhappy.’ I woke up at 50 in stilettos and a thong. I’ve had a great, sexy-ass life.”

Anything else?

Jezebel also noted that Clarkson said in a 2013 interview with the Guardian that she's had numerous “beautiful, extraordinary men in my life” and “wouldn’t change any of that" but that "I’ve never wanted to marry, I’ve never wanted children. I was born without that gene.”

While Clarkson's self-disclosure seems pretty even-handed, comic Chelsea Handler earlier this year went way over the top with her "A Day in the Life of a Childless Woman" video in which she brags about all the extra sleep she gets, all the exotic places she gets to visit, and all the sleeping around and self-pleasure she gets to partake in without children in tow.
