Listen: Author explains Harvey's global impact on crude oil -- 'Nobody really knows what to expect

On this episode of “The Jacki Daily Show” Jacki talks to author Bernadette Johnson of Drillinginfo, a company that tracks global and U.S. crude oil, natural gas, Geo markets, and geo political trends.

Both discussed the significance of the geopolitical economy and how these trends affect where oil companies conduct business which is often times a political risk, a social risk, and a business risk.

“So, a lot of it depends on what is Iraq going to do? What is Iran going to do? What’s the business environment look like in some of these countries with potential oil fields that may or may not ever happen because of what’s going on the ground?” said Johnson. “So, that political economy piece is a lot of that.”

Hurricane Harvey had severe effects as it shut down one-third of U.S. oil and gas capacity in Houston. Johnson explained what energy producers can learn from Houston and Harvey as well as the effects of shutting down oil refineries.
