How did Bill Nye leverage a PBS show into a full-blown science career? Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere asked the hard questions on Tuesday’s “Pat & Stu.”
Nye, who is known for the PBS kids’ TV hit “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” has a new show on Netflix entitled “Bill Nye Saves the World,” which is aimed at adults and combines science with celebrity entertainment. The TV personality, who studied mechanical engineering in college, is not a real-life scientist.
“How incredible is it that Bill Nye has turned this idiotic children’s show he did a million years ago into some level of career?” Stu Burguiere asked. “He just goes around and tells people how stupid they are because they don’t listen to science when he isn’t a scientist.”
The guys played a clip from Nye’s new show featuring actress Rachel Bloom singing about how “sexuality is a spectrum,” going into detail about various sexual practices and orientations.
“It’s horribly written; it’s horribly sung; they can’t dance; it’s horribly produced; it’s not funny,” Stu listed the sins of the awkward “My Sex Junk” song.
“And it’s anti-science,” Pat Gray added. “I’m sorry; it is either/or. You are either a girl or you’re a boy.”
