This controversy at San Diego State between Republicans and Muslims could be a real opportunity

The College Republicans of San Diego State University issued a formal request of the Muslim Student Association to condemn the terror attack in Barcelona, Spain, that took the lives of 13 people earlier this month. The terror cell responsible had ties to an Islamic extremist imam.

Brandon Jones, the president of the SDSU College Republicans, received backlash for this request. Mike Slater said on "The Mike Slater Show" that Jones was making an attempt to "flip the script"--  in light of demands for conservatives and white people in general to denounce white supremacists after the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mike said conservatives have no problem denouncing Nazis or white supremacists because none of those people are associated with conservatism or committing acts of violence in the name of conservatism -- but Islamic extremists are committing acts of violence in the name of Islam.

He recommended that the MSA have an event inviting everyone on campus, including the College Republicans, to learn about the real Muslim faith and what ISIS believes. He advised they provide a question and answer session with professors. But instead, students are choosing to blow things out of proportion.
