White supremacists, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter came together this weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, with disastrous results. James Alex Fields, Jr. allegedly killed Heather Heyer when he ran his car into a crowd of protesters, injuring a further nineteen people.
Unite the Right was there to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, while Antifa and BLM were there to counter-protest. Witnesses report that both sides were armed with guns and improvised, home-made weaponry.
Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro wrote a National Review op ed discussing the “twin cancers” of Antifa and the alt-right eating away at the organism of American society. Identity politics has led to “increasing political polarization,” which the previous administration and the media did nothing to stem, he argues.
Chris Salcedo added on today’s “Chris Salcedo Show” that both Nazis and communists are socialists and that both sides are racist. He lamented that Americans had nearly marginalized racists of all kinds to the trash heap of history, but it’s been stoked again by the identity politics of those who claim to practice social justice.
“The most murderous regimes in human history are of the left,” Chris noted.
