NYT reporter DUPED by satirical Tweet

'... this is MAGA airspace'

We all know that what happens on Twitter is not real life. However, the amusement Twitter provides, at times, is completely genuine.

In this clip, BlazeTV host Allie Beth Stuckey of "Relatable" discussed an amusing story that you will enjoy.

A Twitter user, Jared Rabble — whose account Allie blocked at some point, probably for trolling — posted a satirical tweet that read:

"I boarded a plane today with my son when mid-flight, the pilot announced that the mask mandate is over. Flight attendants pulled off their masks and sneezed directly into their hands while screaming, "this is MAGA airspace'.' My son turned to me in tears. I don't know what to do."

Obviously, this is satire and a play-off of Jussie Smollett's imaginary late-night/early-morning brush with death on the empty streets of Chicago during a polar vortex. It should be no surprise that the 'never fake' New York Times jumped into action. NYT reporter, Victoria, reached out to Jared on Twitter for more details about his "traumatizing ordeal."

Victoria wrote:

"Hi, Jared. I'm a New York Times journalist. I'd love to speak to you over the phone about what happened on your flight this evening. Can you please give me a call .... or let me know how I can reach you? I hope this isn't coming too late in your day. Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you."

A reporter at one of the most prominent news organizations in the country actually thought Jared's tweet was serious. She truly believed there were flight attendants sneezing into their hands while screaming, "this MAGA airspace." Just stop and picture that scenario in your mind. It is ridiculous!

Jared's response was epic. He said:

"Hello, Victoria.

I would love to discuss the incident at your earliest convenience. I was pretty upset about the whole thing. Unfortunately, it's satire that only someone at the New York Times would believe. In my time of contemplation, I was wondering how your team deals with the multitude of false stories that you pedal out daily to use as political propaganda and if you could give me advice on how to take my satire to the next level?

Best wishes."

After reading this exchange, Allie is considering unblocking Jared's account. Imagine how insulated from reality you have to be, especially as a reporter, to think Jared’s tweet was real? It's really incredible.
