Elon Musk has PERFECT response after WaPo says he's 'bad news for free speech' on Twitter

A Washington Post op-ed published on Tuesday claimed Elon Musk's investment in Twitter could be "bad news for free speech" after the Tesla CEO bought a 9.2-percent stake in the social media platform and became the newest member of the board.

The column, written by MSNBC political analyst Tim O'Brien, criticized Musk for his "wide-ranging and unfettered" rants on Twitter, noting that he "once tweeted, then deleted, a meme comparing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Hitler" and has "tweeted transphobic memes."

O'Brien went on to claim "Twitter hasn’t done a lot to curtail" Musk's free speech, but "despite ample room in which to exercise his speech — and aggressively trying to curtail the free speech of some of his critics — Musk evidently feels aggrieved."

Of course, no WaPo piece would be complete without getting a few jabs in about former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

"Belated efforts by social media platforms to constrain some of the most virulent forms of political propaganda have raised the hackles of [the libertarian] crowd (along with far-rightists and Trumpistas)," O'Brian argued.

After seeming to lament Twitter's "belated efforts" in censoring certain "free speech," O'Brian turned around to accuse Musk of not being "absolutely in favor of free speech."

"That’s worrisome," O'Brian said of Musk's involvement with Twitter. "Because it’s not ideal to have a free speech absolutist who isn’t absolutely in favor of free speech at the helm of — or even close to — a media company."

The op-ed appears to have been brought to Musk's attention when a screenshot of the headline was posted on Twitter. Musk was quick to respond with a characteristically short but blistering comeback.

On “The Rubin Report," BlazeTV host Dave Rubin talks about the Washington Post's sudden, incongruous concern for freedom of speech, and Musk's "simply perfect" response. Watch the video clip below or find more episodes of "The Rubin Report" here. Can't watch? Download the podcast here.
