Jon Miller: 'Shame on the Left' for exploiting Greta Thunberg

On Tuesday's episode of "White House Brief," Jon Miller talked about Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old autistic climate activist from Sweden whose tearful speech during Monday's Climate Action Summit at the United Nations has many adults expressing concern for what they see as an emotionally distressed child being exploited to push progressive arguments.

"The left has made [Greta Thunberg] the leading authority on climate change," Jon said. "She doesn't offer any expertise because she's 16 years old ... and yet everybody is talking about her because of her wild theatrics."

Jon played a clip from Thunberg's speech:

"This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back at school on the other side of the ocean," Thunberg says in the clip. "You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire eco-systems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction -- and all you can talk about is money and fairy-tales of economic growth. How dare you!"

Jon noted how Leftists are happy to exploit this young girl, who is clearly distraught because she believes she has no future because the world is going to end in a few years, to push their political policies. Then they label anyone who dares to disagree as bullies picking on a poor innocent child.

"They know what they're doing and it's strategic," said Jon. "Why is a little girl lecturing the world about climate change? Because, if it's a little girl, you can't criticize her ... and that is exactly why they put [children] in front of you to push political agendas. If you put a target that is unassailable, you can't attack their message, and that's what I find so despicable."

"Shame on the Left for exploiting her in this manner," he added.
