Donald Trump’s persecution marks him as a sinner in need of a savior

Freedom cannot be preserved by people who are enslaved to their sin.

This week, Jason Whitlock weighed in on the news that former President Trump may soon be arrested for tax fraud in relation to a $130,000 hush-money payment to a porn star, Stormy Daniels.

“There’s little doubt that the charges being formulated against Trump are politically motivated and far more persecution than legitimate prosecution,” Whitlock said.

To drive the point home, Whitlock explained, “For a multibillionaire such as Trump, it’s the equivalent of arresting a factory worker for falsely writing off a $13 McDonald’s lunch.”

However, there is biblical imagery prevalent in the situation in which Trump finds himself.

Donald Trump has described himself as “the only thing standing in the way of the American dream and total anarchy, madness, and chaos” and as the American people’s “voice,” “warrior,” and “retribution.”

It seems that the full force of those on the left has banded together to figuratively crucify who they see as a stand-in for the American people.

“[Trump] needs to embrace the cross; we all do. Anyone with a sincere interest in saving America has to be willing to embrace persecution. That’s the time we’re living in; it’s the time we’ve created,” said Whitlock.

No one is exempt from their need for the one and only savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

America’s declining morality has been eating away at the foundation of the country for decades. But to save a Christian nation, there must be a return to Christian values.

Eradicating the sin in each individual’s life would do infinitely more for the restoration of America than complaining about the left on social media.

We are in a deeply spiritual battle, and there is only one solution.

“I’m no different from Donald Trump. I took American freedom for granted, I reveled in the secular pleasures America affords in abundance, and ignored the doings of the people who despise this country’s founding documents, principles, and values,” Whitlock said.

Only Christ can save this nation from the dark place to which it is headed. Trump cannot save us. Politicians cannot save us.

If each of us were to lay our sins and lives at the foot of the cross, America would have a better chance of survival than if our preferred political candidate was elected.
