Are Democrats softening their position on Trump?

Alex Lawson, executive director of Social Security Works, joined Lawrence Jones on Monday while Lawrence filled in on "Dana." They discussed the possibility that key Democratic advisers are telling some lawmakers to scale back their attacks so they won't be seen as being "obstructive" to President Donald Trump.

Asking Lawson if he noticed more cooperation with the Democrats as time has gone on, Lawson admits that there had been some willingness by some Democrats in Congress to work with the Trump administration. Of late, however, he's noticed a shift away from that. "You know, I'm not actually seeing that anymore. I think what you first have to start with is that there are the Democrats in the Congress and then the grass roots around the country."

"So after the Democrats lost, for not listening to the people, you mean to tell me they're still not listening to their grassroots people?" Jones asked.

Lawson explains that he believes there to be a slow learning curve on Capitol Hill and that it is a bipartisan learning curve and that it is the grassroots that are leading the charge and against Trumpcare.

"I hate the plan (Trumpcare). The plan is absolutely garbage. Trumpcare is an assault on seniors, it is absolutely the worst policy you could come up with," Lawson said.
