CAIR fights to fire U.S. Air Force anti-terrorism professor for Islamophobia

CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is on a mission to fire an instructor at the U.S. Air Force Special Operations School at Hurlburt Field in northwest Florida.

Patrick Dunleavy teaches an anti-terrorism class with a focus on radicalization of Muslims in American prisons. His expertise is based on his 26-year-long career in the New York state criminal justice system.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Dunleavy started as a corrections officer and worked his way up to deputy inspector general in charge of the Criminal Intelligence Division. However, per CAIR, this simply isn’t enough to make him an expert in the matter — or to outweigh his supposed Islamaphobia. In response, they wrote a letter to the commander of Air Force Special Operations Command calling for his job.

Their main argument against him centers on his involvement with the Investigative Project on Terrorism, a non-profit organization that “investigates the operations, funding, activities and front groups of Islamic terrorist and extremist groups.”
