Glenn: Sanctuary city advocates 'don’t see the death and destruction' people experience getting here

Nine people died inside an overheated truck Sunday in San Antonio after an attempt to smuggle in around 100 illegal immigrants turned deadly.

By the time police were called, only 39 people were left, 17 of whom were taken to a hospital for treatment. “Sanctuary city” advocates should not ignore this egregious example of human suffering, Glenn Beck said on Wednesday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”

Conservatives who advocate for border security and measures like “Kate’s Law” are aware of “the human suffering on the other side of our border,” Glenn said. But people are wrong if they think the answer to that suffering is sanctuary cities, a phrase used to describe cities and counties that shield illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.

People on that side of the policy debate emphasize the emotion involved in human suffering but ignore the fact that dangling the carrot of a sanctuary city also results in horrible risks.

“You don’t see the death and destruction on getting to your precious sanctuary city for so many,” Glenn said.
