Glenn: Truck driver who let 9 people die in heat should get death penalty

A truck driver is in custody after nine people died while crammed into his tractor-trailer in dangerous Texas heat on Sunday. The horrifying incident was an attempt to smuggle in illegal immigrants that turned deadly, authorities said.

Found parked outside a Walmart in San Antonio, the truck likely held around 100 people, with 39 left by the time police arrived. Seventeen people were hospitalized for potentially life-threatening injuries. Eight people were found dead in the truck, while a ninth victim died at the hospital.

Police discovered the crime and apprehended the truck driver after someone from the truck approached a Walmart employee to ask for water. The employee called the police after giving the person water, a local CBS outlet reported.

The truck driver who let nine people die on his watch should suffer the full consequences after treating people “like cattle,” Glenn Beck asserted on Monday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”

“I have to tell you, the truck driver should get the death penalty,” Glenn said. “We need to send a very strong message to people who are acting as coyotes.”

Sanctuary cities can hurt people by acting as a “lure,” enticing illegal immigrants to come in while being manipulated by people who want to make money whether or not the people they smuggle in make it alive.
