Glenn Beck welcomed chairman of the Libertarian National Committee Nicholas Sarwark to "Glenn" on Thursday. The Libertarian party states it is the only political organization which respects Americans as unique and responsible individuals.
It is gaining traction as an alternative party as voters become more disillusioned by Republicans and Democrats. Sarwark told Glenn "American politics is broken. This red team/blue team street fight over which one of them gets to take your tax money ... that needs to end ... by stepping out of that system."
Glenn said that some are wary of Libertarianism because it seems like a free-for-all of abortions, heroin, and hookers where religious persons are not welcome. The chairman assured him that Libertarians embrace the pursuit of happiness according to the individual's definition, not the government's.
Sarwark cited what he calls his "Platinum rule": "I treat you not how I would want to be treated; I treat you how you want to be treated." Embracing this idea guides the Libertarian philosophy of allowing government the least amount of control over the lives of individuals.
He said the party is for "everyone who wants more freedom for their communities."
