Trump comes out swinging against Macron, Trudeau ahead of G7 world summit
June 08, 2018
What's going on?
President Donald Trump heads to Canada today for the annual G7 Summit, a gathering of some of the world's richest and most influential nations. He will reportedly be departing early, mid-morning on Saturday, to make it to Singapore to prepare for the highly anticipated meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong Un.
Catch me up:
Tension has built ahead of the G7 Summit. Trump exchanged Twitter barbs with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, hitting both Canada and France over "massive tariffs." Trump has also wondered publicly if he needs to represent the U.S. at G7.
Glenn's take:
Feel free to skip the G7 Summit, Mr. President; it doesn't accomplish anything anyway.
"What's the point?" Glenn asked. "By all means, skip it. ... I'm just right now trying to figure out a single agreement that the G7 signed that had any real impact."
