Watch: Delicious pizza still can’t make socialism work

A Boston pizza shop with socialist stylings has closed after not making enough money.

Dudley Dough opened two years ago, calling itself “pizza with a purpose” and aiming to pay employees a “fair wage” while trying to “put a social enterprise model into action.” The pizza shop was a project from Haley House, a nonprofit in Boston that provides food and housing assistance. Unfortunately for Dudley Dough, the nonprofit could not afford to keep subsiding the restaurant.

“Two years after the opening, we now know the results,” Glenn said. “It always ends exactly the same.”
