Watch: What would Jesus say about expensive Trump-themed Christmas hats?
November 30, 2017
What happened?
"What would Jesus do about President Donald Trump's overpriced Christmas hats?" A Newsweek writer asked this absurd question in a recent piece, asserting that "the son of God Himself probably wouldn't approve" of the $45 red hats decorated with Christmas lights and "Merry Christmas" on the back.
What did she say?
Christal Hayes cited some Bible verses about greed, including the well-known "the love of money is the root of all evil" passage to back up her opinion. She also threw in the bizarre argument that the Bible objects to hats, referencing some out-of-context verses in 1 Corinthians.
Glenn's take:
"If the article was supposed to be satire, it should also be funny," Glenn said. He had one important question: Would Jesus also disapprove of Newsweek's ad telling people to give friends and family a subscription for Christmas?
