And the Sad Thing About All of This Is - The President Just Doesn't Care

We are broke. Our healthcare system is destroyed. We are strengthening Iran's ability to foment terror and President Obama just doesn't care.

Of the thousands of stories occasioned by the 15th anniversary of September 11 the most striking was in the Politico Magazine about President George W. Bush’s activity on that morning.

The title of the story was, “We’re the Only Plane in the Sky” and it was based on interviews with a couple dozen staff, press and security people who were on the trip to Sarasota with the president.

Throughout the 16,000-word article I kept wondering if there would ever be a story about what President Barack Obama was doing on the night of the Benghazi attack.

President Bush’s activity, including with whom he was talking and what he was thinking, on that day has been chronicled since it happened. We still know nothing about President Obama on the night of Sept. 11, 2012.

I have concluded that President Obama just doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about history. He doesn’t care about posterity. He doesn’t care about our country. He doesn’t care about you and me.

This is not an epiphany for me. President Obama’s first activity as president was to pass a trillion dollar stimulus bill based on a lie. He didn’t care.

We were told that there were thousands of “shovel-ready” projects that we could fund to fix our roads and bridges and create thousands of jobs.

Left-wing think tanks, unions and special interest groups were drafting that bill before President Obama was even inaugurated. He knew what was in it and it turns out the shovel-ready jobs weren’t as ready as we were told.

The hugely successful welfare reform of 1996 was scrapped and billions in new spending went to welfare, including vast expansion of the eligibility for food stamps.

Billions went to state and local governments and school systems to keep public sector dues-paying union members on the job.

We were told that 95 percent of all Americans got a tax cut. Since about half of us pay no income taxes that would have been quite an accomplishment. In reality checks were sent to 95 percent of our citizens. The top earners didn’t get a check. Those who did not pay taxes did. It was nothing more than an expansion of transfer payments, also known as welfare.

We now have 43 million people on food stamps and the percent of our population in poverty is back to where it was 50 years ago before the War on Poverty began.

President Obama just doesn’t care.

Next came the government takeover of the finest system of healthcare in the world. We were told, “If you like your insurance you can keep your insurance.”

That too was a lie. President Obama knew at the time that the following regulations defining minimum coverage would destroy the individual insurance market and they did.

Today 16 of 23 Obamacare exchanges have collapsed and insurers are pulling out of participation in the program.

The average deductible for the cheapest Obamacare plan is $5,765 so most people are forced to pay for insurance that they never use.

President Obama just doesn’t care.

The entire world from Norway to Yemen throughout Europe and the Middle East is in flames. We succeeded in removing Muammar Gadhafi from power in Libya and left a failed state that is now a breeding ground for the Islamic State.

Syria is fast becoming another failed state and the president’s focus has been to recognize and strengthen Iran, the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

We learned last week that we did not pay $400 million in unmarked bills as ransom for four prisoners after all. We paid $1.7 billion.

Testimony before the House Financial Services Committee last week suggested that Iran may have received another $33.6 billion in cash and precious metals sent to them between 2014 and 2015 to keep them at the table to reach what President Obama considers his crowning achievement.

Between our Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve we could have found many ways to move money to Iran. We yielded to their demand for unmarked bills and gold.

Electronic transfers are traceable. Unmarked bills are not. We, effectively, became the largest provider of currency for terrorism in the world.

And just what is in this historic, and costly, Iran nuclear agreement?

Iran was accepted into the world’s community of nuclear nations. They will continue enriching uranium for nuclear weapons. We will continue to pretend they are not.

Meanwhile Iran continues to ignore the UN resolution that forbids missile testing. We urged them to keep the tests secret so that we wouldn’t be embarrassed.

Iran’s navy continues to harass our ships at sea.

What was the president’s response? He just doesn’t care.

When President Obama landed in China for the recent G-20 meeting the Chinese refused to roll out a staircase for the president to exit Air Force One. How better to illustrate how the world views the President of the United States of America.

And the president just doesn’t care.
