Does Trump unite or divide? A new poll shows two-thirds of Americans agree

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows that two-thirds of Americans believe President Donald Trump is dividing the country.

Not only do 66 percent of Americans says Trump is dividing America, but only 28 percent say that he is uniting the country.

Another 59 percent disagree with the statement that Trump has brought "much needed change" to the country, while 39 percent believe he has brought that change to the nation.

What about Trump's approval rating?

Trump's approval rating is still historically low at 39 percent. But it has improved since his lowest point at 36 percent in July.

Other polls have shown that the administration's response to the hurricanes and North Korea helped the president's approval rating rise slightly.

According to the ABC News/Washington Post poll, 70 percent of Americans saw the government response to the hurricane disasters favorably, only 24 percent said it was unfavorable.

Can I trust this poll?

The ABC News/Washington Post poll utilized landline and cellular phone interviews, among a random national sample of 1,002 adults. This methodology is generally considered to be reliable in reporting national attitudes. The margin of error for the polls is 3.5 percent.
