Despondent Las Vegas mayor shares raw thoughts on Vegas shooter, praises her city

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman did not mince any words when discussing Las Vegas massacre gunman Stephen Paddock's actions, branding him a "madman," a "scumbag," and more.

What did she say?

Goodman, speaking with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Monday night, hurled insults at Paddock, who "so selfishly" took nearly 60 lives in the Las Vegas deadly mass shooting.

"The act and insanity of a scumbag madman who has taken so selfishly [59] lives of beloved people from around the country, not just from Las Vegas, and it's just been a tragic time. How dare any human being do that."

She added that "it's been a very, very difficult time."

Goodman lauded the efforts of local law enforcement, first responders, and health care providers for their brave actions in the aftermath of the incident.

"They have done their utmost to save as many lives as possible, but the tragedy remains for all the people who don’t know where their loved ones are,” Goodman said.

"One single crazed madman has turned this city upside down," she continued, adding with emphasis, "temporarily."

Goodman later praised the Las Vegas community for donating blood, money, free rooms and more to the devastated community.

"This has just been a tremendous bonding for us all as we come together," Goodman said. "And we just know that the sadness is that there probably a beautiful number of 59 new stars in the heavens and we are just tragically stricken by this."
