High school science teacher arrested for improper sexual relationship with student

The sheriff's deputies in Canadian County, Oklahoma, arrested a Yukon High School teacher Wednesday for an alleged improper sexual relationship with a teenage student.

The underage boy's parents contacted authorities after finding explicit messages and photos on his phone, KWTV-TV reported.

Authorities charged Hunter Day, 22, with second-degree rape, facilitating sexual contact with a minor, and possession of child pornography.

Day is a science teacher at Yukon High School and is reportedly married to the school's football coach.

What happened?

During a news conference, authorities said they found evidence, including on the boy's phone, of a sexual relationship between the teacher and student.

The student and Day planned a meeting at her house on the day of the arrest, KWTV reported. Deputies went to the teacher's home at the designated meeting time. Using the student's phone, they sent a text that said, "I'm here."

"The doors [sic] unlocked as usual," according to the police report obtained by KWTV.

Investigators went inside where they found Day sitting on her living room floor with the lights off and candles lit. She was wearing a Christmas cat T-shirt and workout shorts, the outlet reported.

Day confessed to sending illicit "bra and panty" photos to the boy. She said the boy also sent her photos of his genitals, KWTV stated.

Yukon Schools Superintendent Jason Simeroth said he could not comment on Day’s status with the school, pending the investigation.

The teacher is jailed in Canadian County and her bond is set at $85,000.
