Another win for Hollywood's anti-divorce dissidents

It's all too easy to make fun of the pretentious, self-serving blather accompanying the typical celebrity divorce (God knows I've done it), but what of the few in Tinseltown to make the institution work? Presented for your consideration are actors Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, today celebrating 40 years of marriage. The dedicated couple join stalwarts like Denzel and Pauletta Washington (who celebrated 40 years in June) and Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick (35 years) in Hollywood's elite club of matrimonial die-hards.

Happy anniversary to Harris and Madigan. May they enjoy even more years together than all-time champions Karl Malden and Mona Greenberg, whose almost 71 years of marriage ended only with Malden's death.
