Fake journalist labels WH aide Sebastian Gorka a ‘phony’

The former editor of an openly anti-Semitic, conspiratorial publication has taken to Rolling Stone magazine to ironically declare a top White House aide as an unqualified anti-Semite, recycling debunked articles to make his case.

The Rolling Stone piece, headlined “Sebastian Gorka, the West Wing’s Phony Foreign-Policy Guru,” questions Gorka’s credentials for his White House post, citing several left-wing pundit declarations as evidence.

"During the decade and a half Gorka spent in Hungary, he was enmeshed in a web of ultraright, anti-Semitic and even Nazi-like parties, politicians and media outlets," the article states.

The author of the piece, Bob Dreyfuss, interviews several of Gorka’s political adversaries to make the case that he’s a “phony” expert. Many of the claims in the piece have already been debunked by journalists who looked into the allegations.

Other than the dozens of false allegations in the story, the most ironic part of it all is that the author of the story has been involved in movements that promulgate the viewpoints Gorka is accused of having.

Bob Dreyfuss, who was tasked with writing the Rolling Stone hit-piece, was once a leader in the conspiratorial, fascist, openly anti-Semitic Lyndon LaRouche movement, as a director of its Executive Intelligence Review journal. Moreover, he has, in the past, fabricated entire conversations with individuals who he has never spoken to.

Newsmax has described Dreyfuss as a “former acolyte of anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist Lyndon Larouche who now writes favorably about Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood for The Nation and other leftist outlets.”

In 2002, the UPI editor at large characterized the Executive Intelligence as “an anti-Semitic potpourri of disinformation, factoids, rumor, gossip, loony tunes and an occasional fact.” The New York Review of Book determined the journal “echoes Kremlin propaganda.”

After 9/11, the journal has published countless pieces declaring that the worst terror attack in American history was an inside job.

While the Executive Intelligence Review was trafficking conspiracies, Dreyfuss’ LaRouche cult established contacts with both radical Marxists and elements of the Ku Klux Klan.

According to the Jewish Virtual Library, the LaRouche movement is a frequent source for many anti-Semitic conspiracies. Lyndon LaRouche and his supporters deny the allegations of anti-Semitism, claiming that they are merely “anti-Zionist,” and not against all Jews.

Political Research Associates, a liberal think tank, wrote that “the LaRouche organization and its various front groups are a fascist movement whose pronouncements echo elements of Nazi ideology.”

So now that Robert Dreyfuss is no longer a direct, open associate of the LaRouche movement, let’s examine his current work.

National security expert Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute has weighed in on the work published by Dreyfuss, determining that he “often makes things up” and “has fabricated reports.” As Rubin reports, he once admitted to making up a conversation with an American lieutenant-general. Rubin describes Dreyfuss’ work as often parroting “theories about the dual loyalties of Jews in American policy.”

Dreyfuss claims to no longer be part of the LaRouche movement, and has taken pains to whitewash his long affiliation with LaRouche. When he writes freelance articles, Dreyfuss never mentions his prior position in his bio. However, his allegiance to LaRouche remained true for years — he even dedicated his first book to LaRouche.

In an ironic twist, it’s much more likely that Dreyfuss, given his affiliations, holds the very views he is ascribing to Sebastian Gorka.

Disclosure: Mr. Dreyfuss reached out to this author for comment prior to the publication of his Rolling Stone piece. This author is a former colleague of Dr. Gorka’s.
