During his address before a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump called out open-borders politicians to their faces, asking them to explain to the American people why they oppose the rule of law.

“To any in Congress who do not believe we should enforce our laws, I would ask you this question,” the president said. “What would you say to the American family that loses their jobs, their income, or a loved one, because America refused to uphold its laws and defend its borders?”

“By finally enforcing our immigration laws, we will raise wages, help the unemployed, save billions of dollars, and make our communities safer for everyone,” the president said. Stressing the necessity of restoring the rule of law to ensure that all Americans succeed, President Trump promised to secure the border and “begin the construction of a great, great wall along our southern border.”

The Democratic members of Congress sat silently as their Republican colleagues cheered.
