According to a new poll, President Donald Trump's approval rating increased by 5 percentage points among Republicans after he told "progressive Democrat congresswomen" to "go back" to the "places from which they came," in a series of tweets on Sunday.
The Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll showed the president's net approval among members of his Republican Party rose to 72 percent, but dropped by 2 percentage points among Democrats, and 1 percent among independents.
President Trump's overall rating remained unchanged, with 41 percent of those surveyed saying they approve of his performance in office, and 55 percent who disapprove.
The national survey of 1,113 adults was conducted on Monday and Tuesday and included 478 Democrats and 406 Republicans.
