Monday on Pat Gray Unleashed, Pat Gray and Keith Malinak discussed a group of brave Catholic high school students who have found themselves at the center of a social media firestorm.
What happened at the rally?
Social media exploded over the weekend, after a group of Covington Catholic High School students we confronted by Nathan Phillips, a Native American man, during Friday's March For Life rally in Washington, D.C.
In the video, Phillips can be seen approaching the teenagers, as he chanted and beat his drum in what appeared to be a form of intimidation, but many media outlets over the weekend peddled a narrative that placed a Covington Catholic High School student in the hot seat because he wore a MAGA hat and a smirk.
Watch the video.
Phillips, an adult, undeniably targeted the teens for wearing MAGA hats to the rally.
Pat explained how media outlets are spinning the narrative; publishing reports that place Phillips in the victim seat when in truth Phillips harassed the Catholic students.
What did the Diocese of Convington have to say?
Sadly, the teens have not garnered much support from the Diocese or anyone in their community for that matter. In a statement, the Diocese of Covington had this to say:
"We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior is opposed to the Church's teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person.
The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion. We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement."
A separate video showed the group of White students being harassed by a fringe group of counter-protesters, the "Black Hebrew Israelites."
Watch the video for details.
Members of the "Black Hebrew Israelites" accused the white kids of being responsible for school shootings because white kids have "shot up schools" in the past, calling them "dusty ass crackers" and "peckerwoods" — among other things — because the students chose to wear MAGA hats to the rally.
