I kid you not: The Huffington Post is equating Glenn Beck's "lie" on 8/28 with the likes of Richard Nixon's "I am not a crook" line and Bill Clinton's denial of inappropriate relations with White House intern Monica Lewinsky in a list of America's "Most Unforgettable Lies."
Before people like HuffPo, Olbermann and Schultz picked up on this story, they probably should've read through the entire original report from blogger Mother Jones.
Regarding Beck's claim that he held the document, [Susan Cooper, spokeswoman for the National Archives] says that seeing such documents for the first time can be a very emotional experience. "I'm certain it was a figure of speech," she says. (emphasis mine)
As Glenn admitted on his radio program, “once again, they caught me.”
And while MSNBC's Keith Olbermann thought it important enough to be one of his top stories of the day, Mediaite questioned the substance:
Seriously though – this was the egregious lie that came out of the Restoring Honor speech, left-wing media?
