Fidel backtracks

An AP story recently came across the wire saying that Fidel Castro is claiming The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg misinterpreted his comment that "the Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore." Goldberg asked if Castro still wanted to export the Cuban economic model to the rest of the world.

I'm not sure how you misinterpret that. It's pretty clear in Goldberg's account of the conversation that Fidel was at least admitting something didn't work out right with his model. But Fidel's now claiming he meant "exactly the opposite." No matter. If Fidel is having a change of heart, then there's not much that can be done. Originally I got excited. Now I'm having second thoughts.

Goldberg is off today for the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. But I visited his blog anyway. The latest post is a video of Fidel on "The Simpsons" and the post is titled, "Fidel, as interpreted by the Simpsons." I've included that below. I'll let you decide what he's trying to say.
