Slight Nudge' Triggers Major Brawl at Minor League Game

A melee caused by what appears to be a slight nudge at a recent Spokane, WA, game makes you wonder if you should change the dial to a little more minor league baseball rather than waiting for the Yankee captain to finally get hit 3,000.

KREM-TV:

"It took 15 minutes before order was restored and the game started back up again.

Vancouver's Shane Opitz and Berti were ejected. while Odor and pitcher Matt West were booted for Spokane. West actually dropped a Vancouver player with a punch when it seemed like things were settling down.

Suspensions are likely to come for the players who were ejected. It's possible the league could hand out more suspensions once they see video from the brawl."

If only cameras had caught the sucker punch. While not as common as in ice hockey or as riot ensuing as in international soccer, baseball has it's fair share of epic moments when sportsmanship took a back seat to fisticuffs. The Spokane Indians are a minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers, lead by CEO and former 7-time no-hitter pitcher Nolan Ryan.
