Liberal Talk Show Hosts Speculate Whether Murdoch Pie Attack Was 'Staged

Three days after News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch testified before a U.K. parliamentary hearing and had a pie thrown in his face, hosts on the Stephanie Miller Show pondered whether the incident could have all been a hoax to garner sympathy for the 80-year-old media mogul, and to distract from the death of the reporter who blew the whistle on the phone-hacking scandal.

"There's some talk that may have been staged."

"Yeah, that was a little weird, to somehow make the story all about her," Miller said, referring to Murdoch's wife Wendi who leapt from her chair to defend her husband from self-described activist and comedian Jonnie Marbles.
