During President Obama's address to the nation Monday on the looming debt-ceiling crisis, he urged Americans to call their representatives and "make your voice heard."
Many Americans did just that. People making calls to the Hill are greeted with busy tones and official government websites are down, likely from a surge in traffic that exceeded their bandwidth, according to Politico.
There is no official word yet as to the cause of the backup.
