Olympic Medal Designs Released: Discover the Meaning Behind the London 2012 Medals
July 28, 2011
As today marks one year to go until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it's only fitting that the design of the medals was released earlier this evening. "The actual elements of the designs suggested themselves to me quite quickly," designer David Watkins told The Telegraph. "It was a given that the medal would be circular and would be a certain weight."
The designer behind these highly sought-after tokens of success explains the message behind his design in this video from The Telegraph:
Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal and London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe presented the medals earlier today, under the gaze of International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge.
