Jon Huntsman made money when he was young by working for his father's multi-billion dollar chemical company. On the other hand, you have Rick Perry who at age 19 went door to door selling Bible reference books. The San Antonio Express-News reports:
Long before there was Gov. Rick Perry, prayer-rally host and presidential prospect, there was Aggie Rick Perry, door-to-door Bible reference book salesman with big dreams.“We were both above average” in sales, said Washington County Judge John Brieden, a fellow Aggie who roomed with Perry in Festus, Mo., their territory for the 1969 summer sales job.The book set included a biblical encyclopedia, commentary and two others lost to Brieden's memory.
Bible selling must have been more than a summer gig for Perry. After all, the Texas governor hosted a much lauded and criticized prayer event Saturday in Houston. He also recently mentioned that he feels "called" to run for president, though he didn't say by who.
