Rep. Steny Hoyer: Princess Nancy 'a very expensive date

In the Democratic party, one long pause from Nancy Pelosi over the phone is the equivalent of being stared down by your parents when you're hiding something behind your back.

Nancy Pelosi wanted money, and she wasn’t going to take no for an answer.

In a recent conference call with other top House Democrats, Pelosi announced she was giving another $150,000 from her campaign war chest to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. She pressured her onetime rival, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, to match her donation. There was a long silence, but Hoyer coughed it up. “You’re a very expensive date, Nancy,” Hoyer grudgingly joked, according to those on the call.
