"I'm a man of my word."
Why exactly was Shaquille O'Neal parading around a television studio this week in his boxer briefs?
It seems he lost a bet.
Shaq, a commentator on TNT's "Inside the NBA," made the gamble with fellow announcer Charles Barkley. Yahoo! Sports explains:
Last week, Shaq and Chuck got to talking about the top power forwards in the NBA; the former repped Blake Griffin, while the latter sang the praises of Kevin Love. The discussion got mildly contentious, and eventually Shaq proposed a bet that the supporter of whichever player did worse during their game last Friday would have to go pantsless on the "Inside the NBA" set. Presumably at an hour when children would be asleep. The stats were roughly equal — Love went for 17 points and 14 rebounds, Griffin went for 21 and 10 — but Love's game-winning three at the buzzer tipped the scales. So, on Thursday's "Inside the NBA," Shaq put on a show. Thankfully, he kept this shirt and jacket.
It wasn't an entirely smooth operation: As Shaq rose from his chair, part of his coattail appeared to be stuck in his waistband. Still, the point was made.
"See you next week America. I'm a man of my word," he said.
