Kareem Abdul-Jabbar talks hoops diplomacy and his new book on Morning Joe
February 08, 2012
Six-time champion, six-time regular season MVP, NBA all-time leading scorer and as of three weeks ago United States cultural ambassador, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar appeared on MSNBC's Morning Joe Wednesday. The baller formerly known as Lew Alcindor appeared on the show to discuss his new position and new children's book; What Color Is My World: The Long History of African-American Inventors.
Abdul-Jabbar spoke on the power sports can have in bridging cultural differences and promoting democracy: "Hoop Diplomacy." Abdul-Jabbar said he was inspired to write his book as a way to introduce other options, aside from sports and entertainment, to children in minority communities.
