Party Like It's 1937: Obama Administration Suggests Parties as a Way to Hook Seniors on Food Stamps

Back when Newt Gingrich was still running for President, he caught a lot of fire for referring to President Obama as the "food stamp President." "The President can't put people on food stamps," the counter-argument ran, "more people just need them!"

This line of attack has now been exposed as being rather disingenuous. At the point when this administration puts out guides on how to encourage people to apply for food stamps, one feels safe in suggesting that perhaps they have started making the jump from simply helping people who need assistance to aggressively trying to get more people on food stamps. And in fact, that's exactly what they do. A guide released jointly by the USDA and Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), which is the program that distributes food stamps, shows as much. In fact, the document even suggests using bingo parties as a means to get seniors hooked. Screencaps follow if you don't believe us.

After a pamphlet like that, perhaps calling President Obama the "Food stamp President" might seem a tad less unreasonable.
