Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is slated to appear on behalf of the Obama campaign Monday at a Philadelphia-area synagogue.
A glaring issue with the invitation? That would the synagogue's name, "Congregation Keneseth Isreal":
Sure, the Romney campaign had a similar cringe-inducing typo of their own, misspelling "America" as "Amercia" in their iPhone app back in May, but it must especially sting for a president who's reportedly claimed to know "about Judaism more than any other president."
As the Washington Free Beacon detailed, the "Israel-Isreal" gaffe is hardly the only questionable aspect of the event: It seems to directly conflict with an Internal Revenue Service rule prohibiting nonprofit organizations, including religious institutions, from "directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.”
