Real News From The Blaze': Chicago Teachers Union Fight Enters Week Two
September 17, 2012
The Chicago Teachers Union is entering its second week of striking in what has become a very public spat with Democratic Chicago Mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. The strike was discussed by the "Real News" panel last week as possibly the culmination of longstanding tensions in the Democratic Party between traditional Big Labor roots and "New Democrats." As the strike has continued for a second week, increased coverage has put the spotlight on what each side is really fighting over at the expense of time for many inner-city and at risk kids who suffer more and more each day out of the classroom
Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, joined Monday's show to discuss the fallout in Chicago and how the dispute compares to similar high-profile Big Labor and government fights we've seen in recent years where Republican legislators were in the hot seat now experience by Emanuel.
