SEIU Protesters Admit to Being Paid $11 an Hour to Protest Romney Event

SEIU protesters outside a Mitt Romney campaign event in Ohio on Wednesday admitted on camera that they were paid $11 an hour to picket.

The video, posted to YouTube on Wednesday, showed protesters carrying a variety of signs including "SEIU for Obama 2012." Some wore T-shirts in the labor union's signature purple.

"We rode down here today," one man with an "SEIU for Obama" sign said on camera. "They're paying $11 an hour."

One woman said the SEIU picked people up from around the community to come protest and that a lot of activists just "go door to door." She said there were paid canvassers picketing as well as community activists.

Another man confirmed on camera he was with the SEIU and was being paid, though declined to say how much. A woman next to him said it was $11 an hour.

Other protesters the camera holder attempted to speak to were quickly ushered away.

An SEIU spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze about the video.

It's not the first time SEIU protesters have discussed being paid to picket: Back in March, a group of female protesters with SEIU gear in Washington, D.C. were overheard on camera talking about the money they had received.
