Biden Refuses to Say Whether Admin. Suffered 'Massive Intelligence Failure' in Libya During Debate Opener

During the first and only vice presidential debate on Thursday, current Vice President Joe Biden seemingly refused to admit that the Obama administration suffered a massive intelligence failure in the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

Debate moderator Martha Raddatz, senior foreign affairs correspondent for ABC News, explained that the State Department has now "made clear" that there were no protesters outside the U.S. Consulate in Libya. Further, the assault was a premeditated assault by heavily armed men – an act of terrorism.

"Wasn't this a massive intelligence failure?" Raddatz asked.

"What it was, was a tragedy," Biden said. "We will find and bring to justice the men who did this."
