Mixed Messages: Obama Camp Claims President 'Takes Responsibility' for Benghazi

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday assumed “full responsibility” for the security lapses at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, which was seen by many as an attempt to clear President Obama and his inner circle of any blame.

But now the Obama camp says the president, and not Secretary Clinton, "takes responsibility" for the attacks.

“President Obama takes responsibility for the safety and security of all diplomats serving overseas,” said Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki during a Fox News interview Tuesday. “Secretary Clinton of course has a great amount of responsibility as Secretary of State.”

Wait, if President Obama is responsible, then what was the point of Sec. Clinton's Monday announcement?

Psaki went on to argue that Clinton’s remarks were not a “coordinated roll-out” to protect President Obama from criticism ahead of Tuesday's presidential debate, as suggested by Fox’s Shepard Smith.
