Martin Sheen, Woody Harrelson Set to Star in 9/11 Truther Film

Martin Sheen and Woody Harrelson are set to star in a so-called 9/11 "truther" film questioning the official account of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, Yahoo! Movies reported.

According to Yahoo!, "September Morn" will support some of the theories espoused by the "truther" movement, which alleges a government conspiracy was behind the attacks that left nearly 3,000 dead.

A description of the film posted on IMDb states: "We the people demand that the government revisit and initiates a thorough and independent investigation to the tragic events of 911. In the vein of 'Twelve Angry Men' this dramatic piece is set with a stellar and award winning cast."

Set for a 2013 release, other cast members listed include Ed Asner, ex-Brat Packer Judd Nelson and "Atlas Shrugged II" actor Esai Morales.

Sheen, known for his role as President Josiah Bartlet on the television series "The West Wing," cast doubt on the events on 9/11 in 2007, the Huffington Post noted.

"I did not want to believe that my government could possibly be involved in such a thing, I could not live in a country that I thought could do that – that would be the ultimate betrayal,” Sheen said. “There have been so many revelations that now I have my doubts, and chief among them is Building 7 –- how did they rig that building so that it came down on the evening of the day?”

Sheen was referring to the collapse of 7 World Trade Center, the collapse of which has provided particular fuel for the truther movement. According to Yahoo!, Sheen said his son Charlie turned him on to alternative explanations.

Harrelson has also expressed support for the movement, according to the Guardian.

Asner said of 9/11 in one interview: "My bottom line on all of this is that this country -- which is the greatest, strongest country that ever existed in the world, in terms of power -- supposedly had a defense that could not be penetrated all these years. But all of that was eradicated by 19 Saudi Arabians, supposedly. Some of whom didn’t even know how to fly."

John D. Schofield, one of the film's producers, also produced "Jerry Maguire" and "As Good as it Gets."
